Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 June 2026. This site (aliasghar.me) is the personal portfolio of Ali Asghar. It is built privacy-first: no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, no cookies for tracking, and no selling or sharing of personal data.
What is collected
The site runs its own first-party, privacy-respecting analytics so I can understand how the portfolio is used. It records:
- Pages viewed, referrer, approximate session duration, and basic interaction events (e.g. which links are clicked).
- Coarse device/browser information (type, screen size band, language) derived from your request.
- Approximate location (country / region / city) derived from network-level geo headers — never precise GPS.
- A one-way, salted hash of your IP address used only to de-duplicate visits. The raw IP is not stored.
- Optional feedback you choose to submit through the feedback widget.
Cookies & local storage
The site does not use tracking cookies. To distinguish a returning visitor from a new one without cookies, it stores a random, anonymous identifier in your browser's localStorage/sessionStorage. It contains no personal information and is confined to your browser. An authenticated cookie is used only for the private owner-only admin area, which is not accessible to visitors.
How it's used
- To measure traffic and improve the content and performance of the site.
- To respond to feedback or contact requests you send.
The data is never used for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions, and is not sold or shared with third parties.
Retention
Analytics events and feedback are automatically deleted after 180 days by a scheduled retention job.
Your choices & rights
- You can clear the anonymous identifier any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.
- You can request access to or deletion of any data associated with you by emailing the address below.
- Most browsers' "Do Not Track" / privacy modes are respected by the cookieless design.
